This stone arch is a Madison landmark.
This bridge, as well as the Bram Street Bridge were built in 1880 to replace an older timber trestles. A second track was added in 1898.
While the structure was built for two tracks, only one still remains. The remaining track has not been used in some time, although it is in better shape than the line through Oregon.
The arch was built in 1880 and has had few modifications since its original construction. Overall, it remains in good condition.

The author has ranked this bridge as being moderately significant, due to the old design of the stone arch.
